      Gathered around the foothills of the extinct volcano, Cerro San Juan, west of Tepic, the state capital of Nayarit, a committed group of 260 cooperative coffee farmers are working together to produce arguably one of the best coffees in México. These particular lot is produced by farmers of the comunity of El Cuarenteño. 

       

      El Cuarenteño is a rural community located in the foothills of Sierra de San Juan, just west of Tepic.  Currently El Cuarenteño has about 840 hectares of coffee in production at altitudes between 900 and 1400 meters (2900 to 4600 ft). The landscape provides a beautiful panorama and breathtaking views of the famous “Three Marias Islands” on the Pacific Ocean.

       

      The quality of these lots are overseen by James Kasalos, coffee processing expert and scientist, who has being working with these group of farmers since 1984.
