Finca Loma Linda, Inzá, Colombia - washed Castillo
A sweet-savory toned coffee with notes of caramel, chocolate, and fruit flavors.
Excellent as a Pourover, great as a Single Origin Espresso
This oustanding Castillo microlot was produced by Neiver Hernán at his farm Loma Linda in Inzá, Colombia. Hernán focuses on soil fertility, shade management, harvesting and processing practices which all are key for ensuring quality of his crop.
The farm is nestled in between complementary crops such as plantains, avocados, and fruit trees like tangerines and lemons. These provide natural shade for the coffee plants, protect them from intense solar radiation, help retain soil moisture, reduce erosion, and enrich the soil with organic matter, while also providing additional income and food for the family. Castillo Variety
This hybrid cross was developed by Cenicafe (the scientific research arm of Colombia's National Federation of Coffee Growers) to replace the no-longer-coffee-leaf-rust-resistant Variedad Colombia; released in 2005.
